Tornado Awareness for Tennessee
Dear Friend,
The tornados that struck Middle Tennessee last week serve as a clear reminder that we should all be prepared for future occurrences of this type of natural disaster.
Since 1950, 12 tornados on average have touched down in Tennessee each year. This is the time of the year we should be especially aware of how to properly respond –- two-thirds (66%) of Middle Tennessee tornados have occurred during the months of March, April and May.
I have created a "Tornado Preparedness Center" with important information on how to prepare for a tornado strike, and details on what to do during and after a tornado. It also has information about the most recent tornados that struck Rutherford and Sumner Counties. Additionally, the aerial photos of the path the April 10th tornado took in Murfreesboro demonstrate why we should ensure we are ready for the next tornado.
It is my hope we will all be properly prepared for any future occurrences. If you would like to contact me about the tornados or any other issue, click here.
