Cookeville is located 79 miles east of Nashville and 101 miles west of Knoxville at the intersection of I-40 and Highway 111 in the beautiful Upper Cumberland Region of Middle Tennessee and has been rated one of America's Top 10 Places to Live. Cookeville (population 26,000) is the county seat of Putnam County and is one of four cities located within the county. Putnam County encompasses some 408 square miles while Cookeville's land area is 20.4 square miles.

Cookeville is a regional center for employment, education, retailing, health care, and recreation/cultural activities. The area has a mild average temperature of 57 degrees F, average annual precipitation of 51", with an average annual snowfall of 8".
